Let’s support desperate Iraqi people

"Iraqi children are killed; let us not send our children to school. Shopkeepers in Iraq cannot run their businesses because of the war, let us shut down ours on March 27th to protest this. Transportation is blocked in iraq, let us shut off our engines, attach black ribbons on our vehicles and honk the horns," Evren told

"Communication is daily limited in Iraq, let us urge only blank signals broadcasted on our televisions and radios here. Let us ask columnists support our cause. Iraqi women are left in the hands of violence and desperation; women should take to the streets on March 27th," he added.

Evren also called writers, artists and representatives of peace groups whojoined the press conference to "regenerate the 1968 spirit to kick the us army out of Turkey. (HA/BE/EK)
